Head of Primary School - Cameroon

Enko Education’s Primary school in Cameroon offers the Cambridge Curriculum for children aged 2 – 11 years old and counts 126 students currently.

As the Head of Primary School, you will play a pivotal role in driving academic excellence and fostering a nurturing environment for our students. Your expertise in international curricula will be instrumental in ensuring the effective implementation of the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of all our students.

We are seeking preferably a fully bilingual (French / English), or someone who is native speaker in one language whilst conversational in the other. We seek an individual who is dedicated to the growth and development of our teaching staff. Your commitment in supporting the academic coordinator in mentoring, training, and supporting our educators so as to empower them with the latest teaching methodologies and resources, ensuring they are well-equipped to inspire and motivate our students.

Building strong relationships with parents is at the heart of our school community. You will have the opportunity to foster open and collaborative partnerships with parents, encouraging their active involvement in their child's educational journey and creating a supportive school environment for all.

In addition to your passion for education, we are looking for a highly organised individual with high standards when it comes to the organisation of events, the upkeep of the school, a person who is proactive and can anticipate risks and who is creative enough to think on their feet for solutions to problems.. An amazing communicator that inspires and reassures by providing a clear vision and a high moral compass. We are looking for someone with a keen interest in managing the school as a business entity. Monitoring marketing targets and overseeing the school's budget will be key aspects of this role, ensuring financial sustainability and growth for our institution. Being Cameroonian, or living in and knowing Cameroon will definitely be an advantage.

Here are some of your key responsibilities!

Lead the Primary School :

  • You are leading the Primary section, ensuring it is aligned with the vision and mission of Enko Education and with the Cambridge Curriculum.
  • This includes the operational management of the campus, including budget, facilities, resources and staffing management.
  • Your go-to person is the Head of Schools in Cameroon : you will report regularly to him with regards to life, challenges, and key events in the Primary School

Create and develop a dream team :

  • You will recruit, manage and develop a team of qualified and dedicated teachers and teaching assistants. Because you have a gift for seeing the talents and potential in each of them you will know how to best support them and how to provide excellent opportunities for growth and training.
  • Provide a supportive learning environment for all learners :

  • Each student in your school feels welcomed and supported, no matter his or her background or education needs. You will foster a warm and encouraging learning environment through the implementation of a challenging and engaging curriculum and through special attention for the Enko Education Child Safeguarding policies.
  • You are able to think out of the box and you encourage your team to do so. The ideas and innovative activities that were initiated in your school will find their way across the Enko Education network.
  • Embark the school and its community on the Enko Education journey :

  • You are the most active ambassador of Enko Education in Cameroon, through your participation in all academic, non-academic and marketing activities.
  • You build strong relationships with students, families, and teachers and ensure their satisfaction and you are always at the sides of your Admissions and Finance Managers in order to achieve student recruitment targets and to ensure that school fees are collected on time.
  • The ideal candidate :

  • Holds a degree in Education or a related field.
  • Has at least 5 years of Cambridge Primary teaching experience
  • Has previous experience as a principal or leader in a school (previous experience as a Primary Cambridge Coordinator is a plus)
  • Is fully proficient in both French and English
  • Has experience in the accounting and financial management of an institution / association / company and is able to ensure financial monitoring and controlling
  • Is able to design and facilitate training programmes for teachers (proven experience in this regard is a plus)
  • Is at ease with data collection and analysis and its usage for teaching and learning
  • Experience with students with special needs is highly valued
  • Is passionate about education and has a commitment to the well-being and success of all students
  • Has excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Is rigorous, organised and capable of leading several projects at the same time
  • Is results-oriented and pays attention to continuous improvement
  • Is able to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • Is curious, open-minded and eager to learn

    All applicants must be legally able to work in our countries with the correct visa / status / work permit. Full-time jobs may be offered to the most successful school launchers.

    Contract : full-time position

    Location : Cameroon, Yaounde

    Timing : Successful candidates should start by August 2024.
